Days after a BEST bus driver succumbed to his injuries from an accident, the conductor of the same bus that rammed a dumper truck from behind near Khodadad Circle in Dadar died on Monday night. According to Dr Ijaz, assistant medical officer at Sion Hospital, the 57-year-old bus conductor Kashiram Dhuri succumbed to his injuries around 11.30 pm on Monday.

Ten people, including the bus driver and conductor, were injured in the incident that took place last Wednesday.  Of the injured, five (including three women passengers, the driver and conductor) were in a serious condition. A BEST spokesperson said eight of the injured people had been admitted to Sion Hospital and two others left for home after refusing treatment. Of the eight, two have succumbed to their injuries, one is still undergoing treatment and five have been discharged. “The incident happened near Dadar when the bus (route no 22) was on its way to Pydhonie from Marol,” the spokesperson said.

A CCTV grab that was taken from the area of the incident showed the bus hitting the dumper truck from behind at a traffic signal on Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Road around 7.15 am. Due to the impact, a passenger standing near the door fell onto the road, while some others jumped off. The Matunga police had registered an offence against the driver. The BEST Undertaking has been taking care of the hospitalisation of all the injured commuters.
