Covid-19 treatment costs fixed in private hospitals across Maharashtra

As per the notification, for routine ward and isolation facilities, private hospitals cannot charge above Rs 4,000 in Class A cities, Rs 3,000 in Class B and Rs 2,400 in Class C cities

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday fixed the costs of Covid-19 treatment in private hospitals across the state on Tuesday.


As per a tweet by Thackeray’s official handle CMO Maharashtra, the move was taken to ensure private hospitals do not overcharge patients.

As per the notification, for routine ward and isolation facilities, private hospitals cannot charge above Rs 4,000 in Class A cities ( Mumbai Metropolitan Region (excluding Bhiwandi, Vasai-Viar), Pune, Nagpur), Rs 3,000 in Class B cities ( Nashik, Amravati, Sambhajinagar, Bhiwandi, Solapur, Kolhapur, Vasai-Virar, Malegaon, Nanded, Sangli, all district headquarters) and Rs 2,400 in Class C cities ( those not mentioned in Class A and B).

In case of hospitals having ICU with ventilators and isolation facilities, the rates are Rs 9,000 (Class A), Rs 6,700 (Class B) and Rs 5,400 (Class C).

With hospitals without ventilator facility, the costs are Rs 7,500 (Class A), Rs 5,500 (Class B) and Rs 4,500 (Class C).
