Even though more people were screened for Covid-19 on Thursday, the city’s test positivity rate (TPR) saw a marginal dip at 0.94 per cent. Fresh Covid-19 cases, too, fell to below 500. As per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) report, 458 new cases and six deaths were reported in the city on Thursday. MMR reported 955 new cases.


The city’s doubling rate continued to decrease and was 1,206 days on Wednesday. Mumbai’s recovery rate remained constant at 97 per cent and 334 people were discharged after full recovery on Thursday. The six people who died of Covid had comorbidities and were above 60 years of age.


The state’s fresh Covid cases saw a marginal rise on Thursday as it went above 4,000. As per the state health department report, 4,219 cases were reported. However, the state saw a marginal dip in the number of deaths on Thursday at 55. The state’s TPR improved and was 11.68 per cent. Maharashtra’s recovery rate was 97.04 per cent.

The state’s case fatality rate remained constant at 2.12 per cent as 2,538 people were discharged after full recovery. The state has 50,229 active cases. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) witnessed a marginal dip in new cases on Thursday. As per the state report, the MMR reported 955 cases, including those from Mumbai. 

Apart from Mumbai, Thane Municipal Corporation saw 87 cases, followed by Panvel, which registered 74 cases. Raigad registered 64 cases while Thane saw 35 cases. Vasai-Virar saw 40 new cases and Mira-Bhayandar reported 34 cases.

The MMR, excluding Mumbai, registered four Covid fatalities on Thursday. Thane saw three deaths while Thane Municipal Corporation reported one death.
