COVID-19: Mumbai sees less than 4,000 cases, lowest since March 23

It seems that new cases of COVID-19 in Mumbai, MMR and the state are declining. Mumbai recorded 3,876 new cases on Monday, the lowest since March 23 - 3,512 -  while the state saw 48,700 cases. Generally, cases are on the lower side on Mondays due to fewer tests on weekends, but on Monday the difference was more. But the number is still greater than in the peak of the first wave. 


There were 70 deaths reported in Mumbai. In the state, there were 524 deaths. At least 71,736 patients were discharged across the state. As per the BMC on Monday, 3,876 cases were reported in Mumbai and 28,328 tests were conducted. An average of 40,000 tests per day were conducted last week.  



At least 9,150 patients recovered and were discharged on Monday. The active patients’ number is 70,373 now. But the number of deaths is still on the higher side in Mumbai with 70. Out of these 70, 42 had comorbidities, 43 were above the age of 60 years, 24 were between 40 years and 60 years of age and three deaths were below 40 years of age. The recovery rate increased to 87 per cent and the doubling rate of the city is now 62 days.


The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) reported 9,683 cases on Monday, including in Mumbai. Thane recorded 749 cases, Navi Mumbai 503 and Kalyan-Dombivli 879. Pune circle reported 9,093, Nashik circle had 8,476 and Nagpur had 9,454 cases.

The MMR, excluding Mumbai, witnessed 59 deaths of which 42 were reported in Raigad and Panvel, 8 each were in Navi Mumbai and Thane district. Latur saw 86 deaths, Nashik reported 60 and Nagpur 57 deaths.
