After recording fewer than 300 Covid-19 cases for the first time in the second wave on Monday, Mumbai registered 343 cases on Tuesday. The city also saw a marginal rise in the test positivity rate but fatalities remained in a single digit along with a dip in the number. However, Maharashtra saw a four-fold rise in deaths at 254 and an increase in new cases at 6,258.


As per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) report, there were 5 deaths in Mumbai on Tuesday.


The city’s TPR went up marginally on the second consecutive day and was 1.22% on Tuesday. The TPR in the second wave was lowest on Sunday at 1.14%. 


There has been a steady fall in the test positivity rate after May 5 when the TPR was recorded at 10.96%. The doubling rate improved and was 1,377 days on Tuesday. 

Of the 5 deaths, two patients had comorbidities, three deaths were in the age group over 60 while two deaths were reported in the 40-60 age group. The city’s recovery rate remained constant at 97 per cent as 466 people recovered and were discharged on Tuesday.

The state’s new Covid-19 cases saw a significant rise as 6,258 cases were reported on Tuesday. The state’s fatalities saw a four-fold rise as 254 deaths were reported. 

The state’s case fatality rate went up marginally and was at 2.1 per cent as 12,645 recovered and got discharged on Tuesday. Currently the state has 82,082 active cases. After registering below new cases below the 1k mark, a first in second wave on Monday, MMR including Mumbai, reported 1,022 cases on Tuesday.

Apart from Mumbai, Panvel with 110 cases and Raigad with 203 reported the maximum new cases in MMR. Thane reported 56 new cases while Navi Mumbai saw 83 cases and Vasai-Virar reported 33 new cases each on Tuesday. 

MMR excluding Mumbai, registered 34 Covid-19 fatalities on Tuesday. Palghar and Raigad reported 8 deaths each, highest after Mumbai.  Thane Municipal Corporation and Vasai-Virar reported 4 deaths each. Thane reported 5 deaths. Navi Mumbai and Mira-Bhayandar registered 2 deaths each.
