After registering new cases over 400, the city saw a drop in Covid-19 new cases on Thursday as the figure fell below 400 for the second time in the second wave. The city also saw a drop in Covid-19 fatalities. As per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) report, 392 new Covid-19 cases were reported across the city on Thursday with 10 deaths.


Mumbai’s test positivity rate (TPR) saw a significant drop and was 1.28% on Thursday. The city reported the second wave’s lowest test positivity rate (TPR) on July 16 at 1.26%. After registering TPR above 2 on last June 27, the city’s TPR had remained below 2. 



The doubling rate improved and was 1,152 days on Thursday. 


Of the 10 deaths, 6 patients had comorbidities, 8 deaths were in the age group over 60 while 2 deaths were reported in the 40-60 age group. On June 8 and July 7, the city had reported single digit Covid-19 fatalities in the second wave.

The city’s recovery rate remained constant at 97 per cent as 502 people recovered and were discharged on Thursday. 

The state’s new Covid-19 cases also saw a drop as 7,302 cases were reported on Thursday. The state’s Covid-19 fatalities also saw a dip as 120 deaths were reported on Thursday. 

The state’s case fatality rate remained constant at 2.09 per cent as 7,756 people recovered and got discharged on Thursday. Currently the state has 94,168 active cases. 

Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) saw a significant dip in new cases. The MMR reported 1,190 cases on Thursday, including the ones reported in Mumbai. Apart from Mumbai, Panvel with 103 and Raigad with 286 reported the maximum new cases in MMR. Thane reported 77 new cases while Navi Mumbai saw 57 cases and Vasai-Virar reported 64 new cases each on Thursday. 

MMR, excluding Mumbai, registered 25 Covid-19 fatalities on Thursday. Vasai-Virar  reported 11 deaths, highest in MMR. As the vaccination drive was suspended at public vaccination centres, the figures in the table for Wednesday and Thursday are from private centres.
