The week ended on a good note for Mumbai as the test positivity rate (TPR) fell below two per cent for the second time in second wave on Saturday. The city’s daily new cases and Covid-19 fatalities also saw a dip, with 648 new cases and 15 deaths across the city.


While on Friday, Mumbai saw a marginal drop in new cases, the TPR as well as Covid-19 fatalities saw a rise. After recording the lowest TPR (1.76 per cent) on Tuesday and single digit fatalities, Mumbai had seen a jump in TPR, fatalities as well as new cases on Wednesday. On Saturday, however, the TPR fell below 2 per cent again.


The doubling rate also improved and it now stands at 723 days. Of the 15 deaths, 12 patients had comorbidities, 10 deaths were in the age group of 60 and above, while three deaths were reported in the 40-60 age group.


The city’s recovery rate also improved and was 95 per cent as 1,916 people recovered and were discharged on Saturday.

MMR saw a marginal dip in new cases. The MMR region reported 1,964 cases on Saturday, including the ones reported in Mumbai. Apart from Mumbai, Navi Mumbai with 135 and Raigad with 528 reported the maximum new cases.

The state’s new Covid-19 cases, though, saw a marginal rise, despite being below the 10,000-mark. As per the state report, Maharashtra had 9,812 new cases. With 179 deaths, the Covid-19 fatalities was also on the higher side, compared to June 21, when the state reported 100 deaths.
