However, deaths increase; in the state, both new cases and fatalities see a drop

After witnessing a significant rise in the test positivity rate (TPR) and new cases on Wednesday, Mumbai’s TPR dipped along with new cases below the 300 mark again, on Thursday. As per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) report, 262 new cases were reported in the city along with six deaths. The TPR was 0.74 per cent. Five of the deceased had comorbidities. 


While two of the deceased were in the age group between 40-60 years, the other four were above 60 years of age.

The doubling rate improved to 1,780 days on Thursday. The city’s recovery rate remained constant at 97 per cent as 269 people recovered and were discharged on Thursday. 

The state saw a marginal drop in new cases and COVID-19 deaths. As per the state health department report, 1,141 cases were reported along with 32 deaths across the state.

The state’s case fatality rate remained constant at 2.12 per cent as 1,163 recovered and got discharged on Thursday. Currently the state has 15,062 active cases. 

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) also saw a marginal drop in new cases. As per the state report, 494 cases were reported in the MMR including cases from Mumbai. 

Apart from Mumbai, Thane reported the maximum number of daily cases in the MMR with 153 new cases. It was followed by Raigad with 54 cases each. Palghar reported 25 cases. 

MMR, excluding Mumbai, registered five deaths. Kalyan-Dombivli saw four deaths, highest in MMR after Mumbai. Navi Mumbai reported one death.
