KEM suspends two health staffers

KEM Hospital fired two contract health workers after a video of an elderly patient being left on the footpath without treatment went viral on social media. The administration explained that the patient was later admitted to the hospital for treatment. The patient, who was under the care of a resident doctor, was suffering from abdominal pain and was directed to be referred to the ESR on the ground floor of the new building for consultation with a surgeon on Friday. Two health workers were sent along. However, a citizen found the patient outside the gate, and filmed the incident.
