Covid-19: Fewer tests means fewer cases, deaths

The Covid-19 cases in the city dropped to 176 on Saturday. This, however, may be the result of fewer tests (25,431) being carried out during the Diwali week. Of the four deaths reported on Saturday, three patients had comorbidities, two patients were between 40 to 60 years of age and the remaining two were above 60 years of age.


The doubling rate also improved to 1,946 days. The city’s recovery rate remained constant at 97 per cent as 467 people recovered and were discharged on Saturday. Currently, there are 3,031 active patients in the city.


In the state, the new cases saw a significant dip along with Covid-19 fatalities. As per the state health department report, 661 cases were reported along with 10 deaths across the state. Data of many districts, including Navi Mumbai, Thane, Kalyan-Dombivli, Vasai Virar, Mira Bhayandar didn’t update on Saturday. Meanwhile, 896 recovered and got discharged. Currently, the state has 14,714 active cases.


The MMR recorded 339 cases, including cases from Mumbai, as only four out of 12 districts updated their data on Saturday.
