Central Railway pointsman Mayur Shelke donates half of his award money to mother-child duo

These are difficult times of Covid-19 pandemic and all those who wish to donate money, hand over cheques to me can offer the money to the mother and the child or any other needy in these times, he said in an appeal on social media.

Braveheart pointsman Mayur Sakharam Shelke has appealed to everyone who wants to meet him, offer awards and gifts to him to donate the money to the visually-impaired mother and her child.


He has also donated half the money from the award given to him by the Ministry of Railways to them.



“These are difficult times of Covid-19 pandemic and all those who wish to donate money, hand over cheques to me can offer the money to the mother and the child or any other needy in these times,” he said in an appeal on social media.


The Ministry of Railways had announced an award of Rs 50,000 to pointsman Mayur Shelke for saving the life of a child at Vangani station near Mumbai. Railway Minister Piyush Goyal personally congratulated him on the phone and said that the railway family was proud of him.
