Two teams of the BMC have left for relief work in the flood-hit districts of Raigad and Kolhapur. They include medical as well as conservancy staff.

One team reached Mahad on Sunday, with two medical groups, one mobile pathology laboratory, around 75 workers of the solid waste management department, four water tankers and one towing lorry. Another team will help Kolhapur get back on track.

“The roads and houses are filled with mud due to the floods. Our team will help clear the houses as well as public places,” said an officer from the solid waste management department.

The SWM team has three dumpers and trucks with them including a break-down vehicle to take care of issues of other vehicles like tyre punctures and electric circuit failures.

Dr Mohan Joshi, superintendent of Sion hospital, is managing the medical teams and Mahesh Narvekar, director of the disaster management department, is looking after emergency management. In a similar flood situation in 2019, the corporation had sent teams to Kolhapur.
