A 52-year-old man died when a tamarind tree fell on his hut at Uttan in Bhayandar West on Tuesday morning. The Uttan Sagari police have registered an Accidental Death Report.

According to the police, Diwa and his family stayed in a hut under a huge tamarind tree. On Tuesday at 6.30 am, the tree fell on the hut. The family woke up due to the loud noise and found Diwa crushed under the tree.

A police officer said, “The neighbours helped lift the tree from the hut and informed us and the fire brigade about the incident. Diwa was taken to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead.”  The police have sent Diwa’s body for postmortem.
