It has also decided to take strict action against the contractor who maintains warmers that apparently caught fire and caused the devastation of lives and property.
Health minister Rajesh Tope announced the action on Thursday after receiving a report following an inquiry headed by Nagpur divisional commissioner Sanjeev Kumar. The report has indicted some staffers for dereliction of duty and blamed improper maintenance of the equipment.
According to Tope, Civil Surgeon Dr Pramod Khandate has been suspended and additional Civil Surgeon Dr Sunita Bade has been transferred to a non-executive office.
The services of Paediatrician Dr Sushil Ambade have been terminated. Medical officer Dr Archana Meshram and nurse in-charge Jyoti Bhaskar have been suspended.
The staff nurses on duty on the fateful night Subhangi Sathawane and Smita Ambilduke have been terminated from service as they were not present in the SNCU when the fire broke out.
