During a session in the Maharashtra legislature, BJP MLA Ashish Shelar explained that no one had specifically accused Sharad Pawar of being engaged in the threats made by quota campaigner Manoj Jarange against Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

The issue emerged in reaction to Leader of the Opposition Vijay Wadettiwar's objection to using people's names without prior notification under the point of information law. This protest was in response to recent comments made in the assembly about the political conflict over Jarange's controversial utterances, reported PTI.

According to the report, earlier this week, Speaker Rahul Narwekar directed the government to appoint a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate Jarange's charges against Fadnavis. Notably, NCP founder Sharad Pawar denied the BJP's allegations of his involvement in Jarange's remarks as "childish".

Wadettiwar urged the assembly to delete the comments against Pawar, emphasising his aversion to insulting words directed at any community or individual.

"Sharad Pawar's name was taken in the House and it is against the rule book to do this speaking on the point of information without giving a notice," Wadettiwar said, per the agency report.

Shelar addressed the assembly, citing a video in which threats were made against a community and Fadnavis. He highlighted a complaint filed by a Yuva Sena activist that implicated Yogesh Sawant, an NCP office-bearer, but did not specifically name Sharad Pawar. Shelar questioned Sawant's involvement with the NCP and his ties to Rohit Pawar, a Baramati MLA.

Shelar was quoted as saying, "There is a video which says we will finish off a community and Devendra Fadnavis in three minutes. A Yuva Sena activist filed a complaint and the name of Yogesh Sawant, who is an office-bearer of the NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) party, came to light. Sawant has also accepted his association with the Sharad Pawar-led party. No one has taken Pawar's name but took the name of the NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) party. Rohit Pawar (MLA of Sharad Pawar-led party) himself called a senior police official. Why did he do that? How is he connected?"

He further stated, "Yogesh Sawant's residential address is in Baramati. What connection does he have with Rohit Pawar, who is behind Yogesh Sawant, the truth needs to come out."

Following Shelar's remarks, the presiding officer urged the government to undertake a thorough investigation and take appropriate measures, to which Minister Shambhuraj Desai responded that the necessary procedures were being taken, the PTI report added.
