According to police, Soni is still in the ICU and his condition is critical. His daughters, Bhoomika (10) and Kanishka (7), on the other hand, are stable.
Soni, along with his family, consumed rat poison after which they were rushed to Karuna Hospital in Borivli on Monday night. The daughters were later shifted to a children’s hospital in Malad west.
Residents of Swami Sidh, the society where the family lives, had no knowledge about the suicide attempt until they read about the incident in the papers.
According to sources, Soni regretted the decision to consume poison and immediately contacted his friend, who rushed them to the hospital.
Charkop police have registered a case against Soni under Sections 307, 309 and 328 of the Indian Penal Code.
“The family is not in the condition to give a statement yet,” said police inspector Paryag Singh Patil.
