A bizarre incident caused chaos and drama on Sunday morning outside Sai Baba School in Parel, after a 30-year-old street dweller took to the track of the under-construction monorail. The man, identified as Indrajeet Bhagwant Singh, was rescued by the police and fire brigade officials, after her created a scene for almost an hour at the elevated platform of the proposed Mint Road monorail station.

The police said that Singh hadn’t eaten for two days and was begging for food. To trouble the man, a passer-by tricked him by telling Singh that he’ll get food if he climbs up the track. Without a thought, Singh mounted
the tracks using a ladder kept nearby.

Speaking to mid-day, Abhishek Parab, a BEST conductor said, “I was at home, when I heard a commotion outside. When I went outside to check, I noticed that a shirtless guy had climbed the monorail track and was walking towards Kalachowkie.”
The frantic crowd was shocked and they were asking the man to come down safely. Residents had already informed the police and fire brigade officials, who later rescued the man, Parab added.

Senior police inspector Dilip Ugale from Kalachowkie police station said, “Singh was looking for food when someone played a prank on him. He was told that food was available on the monorail, so he climbed up. After Singh was rescued, officers escorted him to the police station. After an initial inquiry, he was let off.”
