Warring cousins still hold key positions on Shiv Udyog Sena's website set up by MNS chief in 1996

Three years after Raj Thackeray quit the Shiv Sena after cousin Uddhav was appointed executive president of the party, the MNS chief continues to be the president of the Shiv Udyog Sena on its website.

Interestingly, according to the website, Uddhav is the advisor of the organisation floated by Raj in 1996.

Sena connection

The Shiv Udyog Sena is a social organisation formed to generate employment, according to the website, for the people of Maharashtra.

Raj leads the core executive committee comprising 13 members, including Atul Sarpotdar, Rajan Shirodkar and Sanjay Chitre, who now belong to the MNS.

The website of the Shiv Udyog Sena also mentions the Shiv Sena Bhavan at Dadar as its head office and has pictures of Bal Thackeray and other prominent Shiv Sainiks.

Neelam Gorhe spokesperson, Shiv Sena said, "The organisation was founded by Raj and it is in his control now. What can I say if he has not made changes to the website."

Added Subhash Desai, secretary, Shiv Sena, "I was one of the directors of the organisation, but I resigned from it some years ago, as it belongs to Raj Thackeray."

However, Nitin Sardesai, spokesperson, MNS, said, "It is an NGO founded by Raj and he is still the president of the organisation. It has nothing to do with the Shiv Sena."

Origin of Shiv Udyog Sena

After the Shiv Sena's manifesto for the 1995 Assembly polls promised 27 lakh employment opportunities in Maharashtra, Raj Thackeray toured the state to understand the unemployment problem.u00a0

On June 14, 1996, he formed the Shiv Udyog Sena and promised to set up 30 offices in Maharashtra.
