Mumbai: Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray today met Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to discuss with him issues faced by Ganesh mandals, including the high court ban on putting up pandals on roads.

During the meeting, which lasted for about an hour, Thackeray was accompanied by representatives of Ganesh mandals who are opposed to the Bombay High Court decision of imposing a ban on erecting pandals on the roads during religious programmes and festivals.

After the meet, the Sena chief said Fadnavis was "positive" towards addressing grievances of the mandals. "We had a satisfactory discussion on the issue and the CM was positive on it. I would not comment on whether he will make amendments in law, but the issues should be resolved," Thackeray told reporters.

The Sena chief maintained that no political issues were discussed between them during the meet. When asked about the possibility of cabinet expansion, Thackeray refused to divulge details. "There is no need to disclose every detail of the meeting," he said. According to Sena sources, Thackeray also talked about the complaints made by his party ministers, which Fadnavis assured to resolve.

Last evening, Fadnavis held a meeting with a delegation of Ganesh mandals led by BJP Mumbai president Ashish Shelar. The CM assured in the meeting to amend laws, if necessary, to ensure that celebrations are not hampered.
