Two suspected robbers of Ramesh Upadhyay gang were on Saturday killed in an encounter in suburban Wadala, police said here.

Two suspected robbers of Ramesh Upadhyay gang were on Saturday killed in an encounter in suburban Wadala, police said here.


The encounter took place near Abhuday Co-op Bank in Nadkarni Park at around 0500 hours this morning.


The duo, identified as Ashok Narayan Jivale and Girdhar Pandurang Pote, were pronounced dead on arrival at the KEM hospital after they were injured in the encounter, they said. However, their accomplices managed to escape in a car towards Sewri in South Mumbai, sources said.


The duo was booked in more than 15 cases of robbery and other offences in various police stations.
