A major fire broke out in a chemical factory in Thane on Saturday afternoon. Two persons were injured as a printing unit was gutted in a major fire which broke out at an industrial area in Bhiwandi in the district.


The blaze erupted on afternoon inside the premises of Indian Corporation industrial area in which two persons sustained injuries, Bhiwandi Nizampur City Municipal Corporation Chief Fire Officer Datta Salvi said

A printing unit was gutted and the cause of fire is yet to be ascertained, he said, adding eight fire tenders were rushed to the spot.

Chemical drums which were stored in the printing unit could have aggravated the fire. The blaze was brought under control at around 5 pm. The injured were admitted to a local hospital, said the official.

Fire tenders rushed to the spot.
