A 10-year-old boy died while he was making a mud castle, which also had some light decorations, for Diwali in Kalyan on Thursday afternoon.
According to Kolsewadi police, he was making the castle along with his friends in the society where he stays.
When he unknowingly touched one of the uncovered wires on the castle, he got electrocuted, which eventually led to his death.
The boy identified as Ankit Lonkar, 10, is a resident of Radhakrishna Society in Kalyan (East).
Cops say
According to the police, while Lonkar along with his friends was testing the lights, he touched a live wire and got a shock. He immediately fell unconscious.
“Lonkar was rushed to the nearby Kalyan Metro Multi-speciality Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival by doctors,” said police sub-inspector, Nitin Kedar of Kolsewadi police station.
The police have registered an accidental death report (ADR) in the matter. “The boy’s body was sent for post-mortem. The report has confirmed that he died due to sudden shock. He was a Std V student and his parents work in a private firm,” said Kedar.
