The event gave tech-savvy students the opportunity to put into words their technical and innovative ideas in the form of technical papers. The theme this year was ‘Science in Empowering Society’.

TECHXTER, a one-day event, was conducted on February 1 from 9 am to 5 pm. The event started with an inauguration by chief guests R K Giridhar, vice president of Accenture; Dr KTV Reddy, coordinator, IETE; professor S A Patil, IETE, and Ahmed Pathan, Senior Police Inspector, NRI police station. It was then followed by presentations, which were divided into six sessions for computer science, IT, biotechnology and electronics.

More then 30 teams from across the country participated in the competition. The tech fest received a footfall of over 2 lakh students this year. More than 200 applications poured in from across the country, expressing their desire to be a part of TECHXTER.

“The event is an initiative undertaken by the students. The main motive of this event is to create a trend and we are receiving a good response from all over India. I am glad to be part of this event,” said Head of IT department, Leena V Ladge,

As the hosts of the event, the organising committee made sure that students coming from other cities were taken care of in terms of accommodation and refreshment. The students had various departments to manage security, hospitality, logistics and other responsibilities. More than 80 volunteers came together to manage the event.

“TECHXTER is close to my heart and I have been a part of it since it’s inception. Like the previous year, we received an overwhelming response. The success of this event would not have been possible without the support from the staff and students of SIES. We began work for this event six months ago and our efforts have been rewarded,” said Sreejith Sreedharan, chairman and student of SIES, GST. The event ended with a prize distribution ceremony with the winners taking home certificates and cash prizes.
