Tired of undergoing treatment for tuberculosis, a 31-year-old woman from Badlapur committed suicide on Monday evening. Her six-year-old daughter was also found dead at the spot. However, investigation has revealed that she killed her daughter before hanging herself.
The deceased has been identified as Shamal Mahesh Khale and her daughter Ishwari Mahesh Khale, both residents of Manohar CG Nirvana Complex, Badlapur East. Police said that after returning home around 7.30 pm on Monday evening, Shamal's husband Mahesh Khale opened the door after taking the keys from the neighbour, to find his wife hanging from the ceiling and his daughter killed. He immediately contacted the Badlapur cops, who reached the spot started investigating the case.

Initially they had registered an accidental death case in the matter, but when they found out that Shamal killed Ishwari, they registered a case against her under section 302 (murder) of IPC.

Speaking to mid-day, Dilip Rajbhoj, senior police inspector of Badlapur police station, said, "On interrogating the deceased's husband about the reason behind the suicide, we found that the woman was suffering from tuberculosis and was tired of the treatment. She strangulated her daughter to death and then hanged herself. Further investigation into the matter is on."
