Students brawl at TISS; girl alleges physical assault, while boy says she verbally abused him

A complaint of atrocities was filed at the Tata Institute of Social Science campus by two students on Saturday. According to sources from within the institute, a male student has alleged that a female student made derogatory remarks towards him, whereas the girl alleged physical assault by the boy.

It was during a lecture held on campus on Friday that the incident occurred. A student, requesting anonymity, said, “It was a bizarre verbal and physical argument between two students.”

When contacted, director of the institute, S Parasuraman, confirming the complaints said, “We have formed two committees to look into the two different types of complaints — the boy also said the comments were caste-based. We expect a report by evening.” Refusing to share any further details, Parasuraman insisted that without a proper investigation, the institute couldn’t make a statement.
