Student, staff gear up for Valentine's Day

Barely a week before Valentine Day celebrations, students and staff at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Chembur initiated a series of protests to voice their dissent and condemnation against the recent assaults on women at a Mangalore pub.

Barely a week before Valentine's Day celebrations, students and staff at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Chembur initiated a series of protests to voice their dissent and condemnation against the recent assaults on women at a Mangalore pub.

On Sunday, protestors were seen brandishing witty posters against what they deem as a forced ideology and moral policing by self-appointed custodians of Indian culture. They also kicked off a signature campaign involving local citizens.


She added that the issue is about political opportunism, it is about moral policing of women, it is about censorship, it is about sexual harassment, it is about a patriarchal symphony that strikes a high note by openly assaulting women in a public space.

Students plan to follow up with more such protests till March 8, International Women's Day.
