Stepping up to the daunting task of stopping this, Western Railway (WR) has announced new measures to improve security in the trains.

WR authorities have tied up with the providers of mobile application m-Indicator to create an emergency button, which when pressed by a commuter, would directly connect them to the control room of the Railway Police Force (RPF).

m-Indicator is a mobile application which provides complete details of train routes of Western and Central lines, train timings, halts, bus numbers and bus routes.

A coach composition feature is likely to be included in the m-Indicator app, which will help direct the railway cops to the exact location of the person in trouble.

Speaking about the application’s new feature, D B Kasar, DIG, RPF (WR), said, “This application will help us locate a woman passenger in distress as soon as she presses the emergency button.” “It will take at least a month for us to develop and test this feature,” said a representative from m-Indicator.
