Six Badlapur civic body officials booked for Rs 20-crore fraud

Six Kulgaon Badlapur Municipal Council officials have been booked by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Thane police for gross irregularities resulting in losses to the exchequer to the tune of Rs 20 crore

Thane: Six Kulgaon Badlapur Municipal Council officials have been booked by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Thane police for gross irregularities resulting in losses to the exchequer to the tune of Rs 20 crore, the police said in Thane on Thursday.


Giving details of the case in which the EOW has registered offences against them under Section 166(A), Section 167, Section 406, Section 408, Section 409, Section 418, Section 420, Section 468 and Section 120(B) read with Section 34 of the Indian Penal Code, the EOW's senior inspector Nagesh Jadhav said.


An enquiry was conducted into irregularities for the period between 2010 and September 2013 after which offences were finally registered offences against them at the Badlapur East police station on Wednesday, the EOW official said.


He identified the officials as Balchandra Gosavi, Sunil Dusane, Tukaram Mandekar, Ashok Pednekar, Nilesh Deshmukh, Kiran Gavle.

He said that while implementing the development plan, these officials did not follow proper procedure and violated regulations.
