Sena leader Pandurang Sakpal said, “The state government should understand that the metro project will affect 250 buildings, where mostly Marathi-speaking population resides. These buildings are decades old and the people have been living here for the last four to five generations. If the metro line will pass beneath it, there are high chances that it will affect the structure.
The MMRDA should at least meet the residents and alleviate their worries.” After the protest, MMRC, MD, Ashwini Bhide said, “The MMRC wants to make it absolutely clear that we will hold meetings and will not do anything without taking residents into confidence. The entire corridor is underground and space is required only for entry-exit points and some amenities.”
