The All India Idara-E-Tahafuz-E-Husainiyat, a group of Shia Muslims called for a meeting on Monday afternoon at Azad Maidan to protest against Qasab's lawyer Abbas Kazmi.

The little-known group protested against Kazmi for offering himself as the defence lawyer for 26/11 terrorist Ajmal Qasab.

Congress Party leader Maulana Zaheer Abbas addressed the meet. Zaheer Abbas pointed out that Indian Muslims have opposed the burial of 9 dead terrorists on the Indian soil, while Kazmi was defending Qasab.

The group also objected the fact that Kazmi projected himself as the leader of the Shia community, while it was not so and that he was just a trustee of Shia mosque in Dongri.

When Zaheer Abbas was asked whether the issue was defending Qasab or projection of Abbas Kazmi as Community leader, he replied, "Both of these are issues."

"I have been through the trauma. My son was trapped at the Taj for 42 hours. If someone from Kazmi's family had gone through a similar ordeal would he still have defended Qasab. The whole world has seen Qasab as a terrorist. It is open and shut case. Why aren't are Pakistani lawyers are coming forward," he added.

About the opposition coming in way of fair trial, he said, "He should be hanged at the Gateway of India. We haven't been able to get in touch with Kazmi yet, but we completely oppose the representation by Abbas Kazmi as lawyer of of Ajmal Qasab."
