According to the police, on April 24, 2012, Indrani called up Sheena, who was working as an assistant manager with Mumbai Metro One Pvt Ltd (MMOPL). Indrani and Sanjeev picked her up in their car near National College. The car was being driven by Shyam Rai, the third accused in the case.

Police said in the car, Sanjeev and Indrani throttled Sheena’s neck with the help of the driver. They doused her body in petrol and burnt it at Pen, where they disposed the body. The half-burnt remains were then found by the local police a month later.
“The local cops of Pen got the half-burnt body on May 23, 2012. Later they disposed of the body as they could not find any missing complaint or a claimant for the body,” said Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria, in whose guidance investigations are being carried out by Khar Police Inspector Dinesh Kadam.
