A 25-year-old woman, working as a bus attendant for a suburban school, was killed in broad daylight on Monday in Versova. The deceased has been identified as Neha Sachin Balsingh, whose throat was slit by a sharp weapon while she was on duty. The Versova police have zeroed in on her husband as the prime suspect and launched a hunt for him.
Sources said the incident took place around 7.30 am, when she was picking up children for school. When the bus halted near the MTNL office in Four Bungalows and Balsingh got down, a man approached her, slit her throat and fled. She collapsed, after which passers-by informed the police. She was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was declared dead.
The police have found out that Balsingh and her husband, a school bus driver, had been having arguments for the past four months. An officer said, "A case has been registered under section 302 of the IPC."
