Palghar: A school teacher and her paramour have been arrested for allegedly killing her husband in Palghar town, police said on Friday.

On July 9, Sameer Pimple (36), also a school teacher, was found dead inside the bathroom of his house in the town, Additional Superintendent of Police B G Yashod said. A case of natural death was then registered after his wife informed about the matter to police, he said.

However, on getting suspicious, police launched a probe into Sameer's death and sent the body for postmortem. The deceased's father also complained that he suspected his son was murdered, he said. The couple used to have frequent quarrels over petty issues and the victim's father was aware of it, he said.

The accused, Sameer's wife Sameeda Pimple and her paramour Santosh Yadav Sankhe, a tourist vehicle operator, apparently strangled the victim. During questioning, they confessed that they dragged his body to the bathroom to present it as a case of natural death and also tried to destroy the evidence, he said.

Based on the medical report and other inputs, police yesterday arrested the duo and booked them under relevant sections, Yashod added.
