Palghar: Three persons have been booked for allegedly forcing a young unmarried woman to abort her pregnancy.

One of the accused had befriended the 20-year-old girl and raped her repeatedly between December 2014 and September this year, following which she became pregnant.

“A complaint was registered in Khar police station, as the victim resided in Mumbai. But the case has now been transferred to Tulinj police station of Vasai division, as the accused live there,” said SS Jadhav, assistant police inspector of the Tulinj police station.

“After she got pregnant, they took her to Uttar Pradesh, under some pretext, where she was forced to abort,” he said. A case under relevant sections of IPC was registered and efforts are on to nab the accused whose identity is withheld, police said.
