"Industrial units seeking to set up businesses in MIDC zones in the state need not acquire permissions from the local
bodies if they have necessary approvals from the MIDC," an official in the Chief Minister's office said.
The decision, which was taken in the weekly cabinet meeting today, is aimed at curbing red tapism and expediting industrial development, the official added. The cabinet approved a proposal to amend the Mumbai Municipal Corporation Act and the Municipal Councils, Nagar Panchayat and Industrial Township Act of 1965.
The cabinet also approved setting up of fodder camps in Parbhani, Ahmednagar and Solapur districts in view of the drought situation. Earlier, fodder camps had been set up in Beed, Osmanabad and Latur.
