No leakage of 26/11 report, says Chavan

Rejecting allegations by the Opposition that the Ram Pradhan Committee report on Mumbai terror attacks was leaked, Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan on Wednesday said the leaked copies have no relation with the original report.

"The copy given to me by the Opposition has no relation with the four copies we have. No photo copy of the original report went out," Chavan informed the Legislative Council, replying to the issue raised by the Opposition leaders.

"We will still check the copy given by Opposition with the original report and I have given it to the Home Minister for verification," Chavan said.

Replying to the repeated demand by Opposition leaders to table the report, the Chief Minister said, "I had already said that publicising the report should not affect the ongoing 26/11 trial."

The government has tabled all the important points of the Pradhan Committee report and action to be taken report in the House and a detailed discussion was also held on it, Chavan said.

Leader of Opposition in the Council, Pandurang Phundkar moved an adjournment motion and demanded discussion on the leakage of the report. He said the government refused to table the report but it was leaked to the media.

Chairman of the House Shivajirao Deshmukh rejected the adjournment motion by the Opposition after the Chief Minister's clarification. The Opposition leaders tried to disrupt proceedings of the House and the House was adjourned twice amid noisy scenes.

Shiv Sena leaders, who moved a breach of privilege motion against the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretary and Ram Pradhan on Tuesday, gave a copy of the leaked report to the Chief Minister.
