A 50-year-old police constable succumbed to dengue on Wednesday night during his treatment at a hospital in Navi Mumbai.

The deceased, Prakash Patil, was posted at Govandi police station since the past one-and-a-half months. Before that, he was attached to Pant Nagar police station.

“Patil was admitted to MGM Hospital at Vashi around three days back after he was diagnosed with dengue. However, he died at the hospital on Wednesday night,” the police officer said.

Patil’s body was taken to his native place Kolhapur for the last rites yesterday. He is survived by his wife, son and daughter.
