After introducing the e-challan system earlier this year with the help of CCTV surveillance, the tech-savvy Navi Mumbai Traffic police department recently launched a mobile application for the city’s motorists.

Named the Navi Mumbai Traffic App, it was launched on March 26 and has been developed by Calibre Technologies, a private software firm.
The application is loaded with information regarding traffic rules and regulations, fines, auto rickshaw and taxi fares, contact details of emergency services like ambulances, hospitals and blood banks, among others.
Currently, the app is available only for the Android platform.
Arvind Salve, DCP (Traffic), Navi Mumbai police, said, “The application has been launched with an intention to make people’s lives easier. Motorists can learn and understand traffic rules and regulations with just a single touch on their phones.
Moreover, in a critical situation, people can access details regarding the nearest emergency services.”
