Waghivli resident succumbs to severe head injuries after husband loses control of bike, when another vehicle comes in front suddenly
The deceased's family has alleged that Panvel-Uran road, where the accident happened, is perennially wet due to pipeline leakage, and that led to the tragedy

A 35-year-old woman on her way home with her husband died after the motorcycle they were on met with an accident on the Panvel-Uran road last morning. She was taken to MGM Hospital, where she was declared dead. While the police are yet to register a case, her family members have alleged that regular water leakage from the Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran pipeline, which keeps the stretch wet and slippery, is one of the reasons for the accident. The victim has been identified as Sujata Patil, who was into the fish selling business with her husband Hareshwar.
The incident took place around 8.30 am near the Vadghar-Chinchpada area. "They were headed home, when a vehicle suddenly came in front of their bike and Hareshwar lost control. Sujata fell on her head and bled heavily from the mouth and nose. Hareshwar claims the road was full of water and sand, because of which he lost balance and skid," said Vishwanath Vehele, a constable at Kamothe police station.
Vehele, who looks after MGM Hospital's accident cases, said she was brought in at 9 am. "The CMO declared her dead at 9.25 am. She had grievous head injuries and had bled heavily from her mouth and nose. We are investigating the matter and have taken down family members' statements. We will send our report to the New Panvel police station, under whose jurisdiction the incident occurred," he added. A senior officer from New Panvel police station said, "After we receive the report from the Kamothe police, we will register a case accordingly."
