Nation's leaders react to J Dey's death

Manmohan Singh, Prime Minister
It is shocking and unacceptable.

Prithviraj Chavan, Chief Minister, Maharashtra
I strongly condemn the attack on J Dey. I have taken serious cognisance of it and have asked Mumbai's Commissioner of Police to act tough against the culprits. Any attempts by anti-social elements to suppress the voice of journalists will not be allowed to succeed.

Narendra Modi, Chief Minister, Gujrat
Killing of J Dey is very shocking and tragic! Very unfortunate! May his soul rest in peace. Heartfelt condolences to the family members.

Ambika Soni, Information and Broadcasting Minister
The act has challenged the freedom of press. No civilised society can tolerate this kind of attack on freedom of press.

Nitin Gadkari, BJP President
Killing of J Dey shows deterioration in the law and order in Maharashtra. The gruesome murder of the senior journalist is a very shocking incident. Mumbai has lost a brave journalist. I condole his death and condemn the dastardly crime.

Mumbai Congress President, Kripashankar Singh
Attacking a journalist is an attack on democracy and I demand the state home department bring the culprits to book at the earliest.
