Mumbai tourist dies in paragliding accident at Manali

Shimla: A 31-year-old tourist from Mumbai today died after crashing into the ground during a tandem paragliding flight in Manali, police said.


The deceased identified as Krishna Tripathi had come to Manali with his wife and daughter, Kullu Deputy Commissioner, Rakesh Kanwar said. The pilot has been arrested by the police who have registered a case in connection with the matter.


The district administration has announced Rs 50,000 to the family of the deceased. Meanwhile, two persons died and another was injured in separate accidents in Shimla and Solan districts, police said. Kailash Chand (64), a resident of Arki in Solan, today died when the car he was driving fell into a deep gorge near Chhogtali on Nauradhar-Rajgarh road, 60 km from Solan.


In another incident, one Nagendra was killed while Yograj was injured when the vehicle in which they were travelling, rolled down near Sunni about 55 km from here. A case has been registered under sections 279, 337 and 304 A at Sunni police station and investigations are underway, police said.
