Update: As per our conversation with the BMCs Disaster Management Unit, there is no official warning issued. But they did say that Mumbaikars could expect heavy showers in certain parts of the city and suburbs.
The first day of the week, and the rains presented Mumbaikars with yet another challenge, treading water logged streets, fighting off fellow-commuters to get to work and waiting in cars stuck in never-ending traffic jams. If you thought Monday was the worst of it, think again. The weather, it seems, has a lot more coming over the next few days.
It was one of the wettest July days in three years with 126.6mm rainfall in a 12 hour period (between 8.30am to 8.30pm).

As per the IMD, Mumbai witnessed 48.6 mm of rainfall at Colaba and 126.5 mm at Santacruz on Monday. Nitha Sasidharan, an IMD scientist, said, "An active offshore draft from North Maharashtra coast to Kerala coast and low-pressure areas over the Bay of Bengal have caused the heavy rains. This may lead to heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours."
Monday blues
While the Disaster Management department had no dangerous situation to report, traffic was diverted to different routes, especially near underground subways where waterlogging was reported. Most complaints of waterlogging came from Sion Circle, Kings Circle, Matunga, Andheri station and Milan subway.
Khar was the worst hit with residents saying that once the area gets water logged, the water does not drain, making life miserable. To make matters worse the Gazdarbandh pumping station at Khar Danda saw the pumps trip at certain intervals.
Lakhs of people struggled to get home on Monday evening, due to heavily affected transportation, and several citizens took to Twitter and other social media to complain about the city's lack of preparation for the monsoon. Heavy traffic was reported on Eastern and Western express highways. Barricades for Metro work caused further traffic congestion on the Western Express Highway. BMC released a statement saying, "MCGM staff, including Assistant Municipal Commissioners are on the field."
As people waded through water-logged streets and struggled to get home, their Twitter reactions are hillarious;
