Commuters returning home from work were stuck in traffic jams as rain lashed Mumbai on Monday evening. Many trees also became casualties of the wind and heavy showers.

A tree fell on the roof of Pritam Hotel at Dadar. Luckily, no one was injured. Similar incidents occured at Kurla on Premier Road and Wadala Village.

Rainfall received in Santacruz was measured at 59.2mm whereas Colaba received 22.4mm. With the heavy rainfall that the city witnessed on Monday evening, there was water logging at various places including Santacruz-Chembur Link Road and on Andheri-Ghatkopar Link Road. Traffic was moving at snail's pace on SCLR and Western Express Highway between Andheri and Malad.

The heavy showers also affected traffic on the northbound stretch of WEH between Bandra reclamation and Kherwadi junction. The traffic was also stuck in the arterial SV Road stretch between Andheri and Borivali.

Trains are running 20 minutes late on Central Railway because of water-loggging on tracks on Kurla station.
