A 16-year-old boy has been arrested by the police for allegedly raping his junior at a prominent school in Juhu. The rape came to light after the girl complained to her parents of stomach ache, only to discover that she was pregnant.
The boy is a Std X student and the girl is a year junior to him. The rape started several weeks ago, but the girl was too scared to tell her parents what had happened.
“In her statement, the victim said that she had become acquainted with delinquent and in the month of August, he kissed her and inappropriately touched her private parts in the girls’ bathroom at the school. He called her there again and had sexual intercourse with her several times, under the threat of revealing their relationship to their school friends,” said Mumbai Police spokesperson, DCP Ashok Dudhe.
An officer from the Juhu police station said, “It was only after the victim complained of a stomach ache that her parents took her to a gynaecologist, who informed them that she was 13 weeks pregnant,” said a police officer.
The parents approached the Juhu police and an FIR was registered in the matter. On Tuesday evening, the police got the medical reports confirming the pregnancy and the boy was arrested from his home in the western suburbs. The police informed the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and the boy was produced before the Juvenile Court in Dongri and was sent to the Dongri remand home.

Senior Police Inspector Sunil Gosalkar of Juhu police station said, “The case is at a very premature stage and investigations are still underway. The boy has been sent to the remand home and we are awaiting the medical report.”
Despite repeated attempts to contact the school principal, she refused to comment on the issue.
