They were always in the best of attires, so what if they were thieves. This is exactly what helped these two men loot people of their money in jam-packed Metros of the city. However, their free run came to an end when a commuter filed a complaint with the Andheri police on July 23, after he lost his wallet. During the investigation, the police came across a CCTV footage in which the duo was seen pickpocketing, dressed in formal clothes. Thereafter, they laid a trap and nabbed them from the Andheri Metro station on July 25.

According to police, the accused have been identified as Arvindkumar Malik, 30, a resident of Wazirabad in Delhi and Satyam alias Monu Pandey, 27, who hails from West Karawat Nagar in Delhi. After the cops received the complaint, they conducted a search operation for two days based on the duo's timings, which was mainly during evening peak hours. Thereafter, they were arrested from the Andheri metro station.

Speaking to mid-day, Pandit Thorat, senior inspector of Andheri police station said, "Investigations have revealed that the duo was staying at a hotel in the city after they came from Delhi. They have been arrested under sections 379 and 34 of IPC and are currently in judicial custody." "It was difficult for anyone to be suspicious of them as they were always well dressed. They used to look like corporate professionals," said an officer from Andheri police station.

The investigation has revealed that after reaching Mumbai by train, the accused would check into a hotel in Andheri. They stayed in the city for a couple of days and during that time pickpocketed people. They would mainly target Metro passengers, in order to get more cash. As part of their modus operandi, they would first zero-in on their targets and follow them for a certain distance. Then getting an opportunity they would pick their wallets. The police have come across two cases registered against them.
