Taking advantage of the crowd that has gathered for Navratri shopping in a Bhayander boutique, two women stole the handbag of another lady who was busy shopping in the store. The 37-year-old victim realised that her handbag is missing, when she was getting ready to pay the bill.
Pinky Gohil went to that boutique on Thursday and had kept her handbag on the table so that she could concentrate on shopping. She went on piling up the clothes and was rest assured that her bag was underneath the bundle. Finally, when she chose a cloth and was about to pay for it, her handbag that contained Rs 21,500 and a mobile phone was missing.
Immediately, she lodged a complaint. “We have registered a case against two unknown women under section 380 of IPC (Theft in dwelling house, etc). The whole incident has been captured by the CCTV camera of the shop and we are scanning that,” said an inspector from Bhayandar police station.
The CCTV camera has captured the two thieves who enter the shop and pretend to search for a cloth through the pile underneath which Gohil’s handbag was kept. While Gohil is busy trying out clothes, the accused, ignorant of the CCTV camera, stealthily pull out the bag and leave the shop. There is another woman who enter the shop briefly and is seen signalling from outside, after which the two accused leave finally.
