Two minors aged 10 and 12 years were raped by their mother’s partner at their home in Pant Nagar, Ghatkopar. Cops said that the girls were so afraid of the consequences that they did not utter a word of their ordeal, even to their mother. The incident was reported to the Pant Nagar police station on Friday, after the girls confided in one of their neighbours.

An officer from the Pant Nagar police station said, “The mother has five children, of which these two were raped. She has been living with the accused for the past five years. She had called her five children from their native place 15 days ago, with the intention of admitting them to school.” The woman got divorced a year ago. She works as a babysitter.

The officer added, “At the time of the incident, the mother and the three other children weren’t at home, and the accused took advantage of that and raped them, first the 12-year-old and then the 10-year-old.” “The two then started spending most of their time at their neighbour’s residence. Soon, she sensed that something was amiss. After the neighbour enquired, the two narrated their ordeal to her.

Alarmed, the woman promptly reported the incident to her husband and other neighbours. The locals then dragged Dubey to the police station and lodged a complaint against him in the wee hours on Friday. The cops immediately arrested him after registering the case,” added the officer. The accused has been booked under sections 376 (1) (rape) and 375 (rape) of the IPC and remanded in police custody.u00a0
