The accused then dropped a letter, which the police say made a demand for Rs 10 lakh. The incident has now taken a more sinister turn. The Kurar Police discovered that the shooter used a modus operandi that was once the signature extortion method of gangster Ravi Poojari.
According to sources, another interesting fact in the case is that this letter mentions that it was written by Uday Pathak, a local goon from the area, who is already in jail on charge of murdering four people in 2011.
Allegedly, Pathak is trying to create a feeling of fear among builders in the neighbourhood after taking note of the many SRA projects being developed in the area.
The injured auto driver was admitted to Shatabdi Hospital and is now out of danger. The accused is still unidentified and the police are looking at CCTV camera footage from the vicinity to identify him.
