The lives of commuters on a BEST bus were endangered when the driver of the Kandivli-bound vehicle was caught driving under the influence of alcohol around 5 pm yesterday.

Bhagaji Nana Thorat, a bus driver from Malvani bus depot, was asked to stop at Kandivli police staion after a few alert
citizens who occupied the front seats noticed his behaviour.
He was driving on route number 207, which runs between between Gaikwad Nagar in Malvani (Malad) and Dahisar bus station (Kashimira). The police confirmed that the bus driver was under the influence of alcohol after he tested positive for.
“The bus driver has been booked under Section 185 of Motor Vehicle Act. We have handed over the bus driver to the Depot in charge and their department will continue the investigations,” a senior police inspector said.
