Three unidentified accused broke into a bike shop in the wee hours of Saturday at Pali Hill in Bandra, but managed to only steal two leather jackets and two cellphones.

The shop is owned by Akshai Varde, actress Sameera Reddy’s husband.

The incident took place at around 2 am on Saturday. An officer from Bandra police station said, “We believe that the three accused might have got a tip-off that a large sum of money is kept in the shop, due to which they decided to break in.” “The incident came to light when the employees of the shop reported to work the next day and informed the family, following which Sameera’s mother Nakshatra reported to the police station, and registered the case, as the couple wasn’t available,” the officer further said.

The cops revealed that they have obtained CCTV footage in which the three accused can be seen from a distance.
Went to cash counter
After investigating the spot, police suspect that the three initially went to the cash counter to steal the money, but as they could not get any, they opted to steal two leather jackets and two cell phones from the shop.
In the FIR registered with the Bandra police, the complainant has mentioned that the property was worth Rs 44,000.
A source close to the couple said, “Three accused broke into the shop and immediately after getting in, they turned the CCTVs around. The whole shop was ransacked.”
The case has been registered under Sections 380 (theft) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code while cops have formed teams to locate the accused.
